Can I have the new email alert display on the desktop permanently

In the old version of Outlook express, when I had a new email, the letter
notification alert was displayed on my desktop until I opened the new emails.
Is there a way to do this on Outlook 2003? The only option I see for new
email alert is a 30 second display.

I tried that. That is where I can only get the display for a maximum of 30
seconds. Is there a way to get that display longer?

Hi,
Under "Display a desktop alert when messages arrive"
see 2)
To specify the duration or transparency of the alert, click Desktop Alert
Settings, and then select the options you want.

Unfortunately, the duration of the alert display is 30 seconds. The alert on
the old Outlook stayed displayed until the message was read. That is my
question, is there a way to make the message stay displayed until the message
is read rather than limiting the display to 30 seconds?

This works until I shut down. Then I'm back to 30 seconds viewing time on
the email desktop alerts. I would also like to keep the email desktop alert
visible until I close it manually.
Thanks.

The method described in the link I cited is a permanent change and, as far
as I am concerned, 50 days is pretty darn close to "permament". I can't
imagine what would prevent you from clicking the dismiss button within that
amount of time.

Well, an alert is "permanent" - until another alert comes along and takes its
place. Then the first alert diappears. What a system ?!?
