Can Find Messages But Can't 'See' Them

One of my Folders is missing approximately one-years worth of messages. There
should be a couple each day, but there's nothing between May-20-08 and
Apr-27-09.

Earlier, I did a search using text that would appear in each subject line.
It seemed like it found all the messages that should be there. It found them
in the sub folder that they were supposed to be in.

Restarted Mail and the folder is still missing the messages. But now I can
no longer Find them.

When going through the directories using Windows Explorer I notice that
folder names 'look' corrupted. e.g. "1. Item A Orders" is "1. Item A 4d5".
But the folder names are intact in Mail. Should I rename them in Explorer?

Should I force a message compact run (if I can figure out how to do that)?

Any quidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just noticed that one folder, and it's subfolders, were duplicated to a
different location. The missing emails were there.

I do not recall copying folders. Any idea what might be going on?

Anyone know of a free duplicate remover utility for Windows Mail?
