We have been given a laptop that is used to VPN to a customers network, and
at the same time I need to connect to our network. Is this possible? Is it a
security risk?

Chris,

Using native Windows, a computer can join only one domain at a time.

These third party programs, though, let you store multiple network
configurations and switch between them easily:

NetSwitcher

MultiNetwork Manager

Mobile Net Switch

BTW, Chris, please don't contribute to the spread and success of email address
mining viruses. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a
bit safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - read this article.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
