Can a folder become corrupted?

Hi

I had some video clips inside a folder (directory ) on Windows XP, and every
time I open the folder explorer would crash. This would occur before I
attempted to play any of the contained video clips. I simply created a new
folder on the same physical hard disk and copied over all of the video
clips, and subsequently deleted the old empty folder. Now, everything works
fine. I ran a check disk on the hard disk, and there was no indication of a
problem.

I'm just wondering why this problem occurred in the first place. And if
there is anything more I need to do?

Thanks,

Sam

Thanks this sounds as though it is a very similar problem. Still a bit
puzzled as to why just moving into a different folder seems to have fixed
the problem but so be it!

Heh, just do a search for explorer avi fix or problem and you'll get
billions of results. Apparently, there are like hundreds of programs
that are able to kill that trouble-making preview mode, most system
tuners have this ability. I personally use 2000, not xp, but have heard
quite a lot on the topic. This problem can lead to "undeletable" files
too - if the avi preview crashes or freezes in the middle, you can't
delete the file at all, verry irritating.
