I dual-boot XP Home SP 3 and the Win7 RC. XP was installed first. Win7 was installed into an empty partition on a second physical hard disk.
Long ago I moved all my data (documents, photos, music, videos) to a separate partition. So my first hard disk has two partitions: a software partition and a data partition. My second hard drive also has two partitions: a storage partition and the partition with Win 7.
I would like to access the folders in the data partition (on the first disc) from Win 7 but, of course, my Win 7 user account is not the owner of those folders. My Win XP user account is the owner. Not surprisingly, when I attempt to access the data partition from Win 7 I get the message: "You don't currently have permission to access this folder."
Finally, my question: Win 7 offers me the opportunity to access the data partition, saying: "Click Continue to permanently get access to this folder." What exactly happens if I click Continue? Does this mean that my Win 7 user account becomes owner of the folders, and if so, does my Win XP user account /lose/ ownership of the folder? Is there a way to share my data partition with XP and 7?
Thanks for your help.

P.S. I would cross-post to a Windows 7 newsgroup...if I could find one.
