call waiting window

When we installed our Windows XP system we were hoping
to have the call waiting window come up when a call
comes in. It does not. Do we need "call waiting" on our
line to have this option?

You need call waiting from the phone company, a modem that supports this
feature, and software to pop up the message. The software would likely come
with the modem.
