Call of Duty 2 Crashing

I am running an AMD 4400 dual core, X1800XT PE, Creative Fatal1ty sound
card, 2x1 gig OCZ platinum ram and 2x36 gig Raptor hds in raid.
I can play the game for about 15-20 minutes and then it crashes. I get the
blue screen of death. Says something about driver. The comp reboots and I go
back into the game and it keeps happening.
I turn the hardware acceleration on the sound card to basic plus in the game
I set the sound to 11 hz and basic audio. I am using the 5.13 catalyst
drivers on a fresh install of WinXP SP2. I am not overclocking my vid card
and I have the game set at 800x600 with bilinear and low settings. Anybody
have any ideas on how to correct this ?
The only other game I have installed is Quake4 and it works flawlessly .
I also have all of the ATI drivers since the 4.1's so I could use any driver
that would work better.

Probably you got some sapphire, power color or a msi card and your
using their driver witch suck big time. it happen to me also with the
msi drivers. now i'm on ati 5.13 drivers from the web site ati and it
doesn't happen any more. That bug is particular to directx 9 engine.
you will remark that if you use the directx 7 version in the option
tab graphisme you will not have the bleu screen of death in cod2, and
that at any resolution. its an alternative but dx7 suck big time and
cut the realism in half. that setting is in the graphisme setting or
something like that.dfc

As you've experience no bug in other game it shows that its a driver
issue in cod2. there is also a patch for A64 bit and the
heapertreading stuff but i didn't find any improvement.

the most reliable driver of the last 2 years is the 4.12s - if you're happy
with an older driver give it a try. runs all the latest games flawlessly for
me - FEAR, COD2, BIA, Q4, AoE3 .. yada yada yada. I havent run all the 5
series but I tried the 5.12s which locked up once in FEAR (I dont accept any
lockups) but played Q4 okay, then the 5.11s which didnt lock but did show
graphical corruption. Since 5.6 ATI introduced some performance boosts that
also meant the cards ran hotter and I think thats the problem. Ive also
tried the 5.1s which were a little glitchy and the 5.6s were lockup city. I
keep going back to the 4.12s because I like to play for a couple of hours
solid without worrying about am I saving my game often enough.

I didn't know that 4.12 was made for the x1800pe video card witch
happend to be on the market for at least 2 or 3 mounth.

The 4.12 version of the driver where built for at least the 9800
series if i recall. how can it be supporting the x1800 and all it
technologies?
