Cached profiles not deleting - ZTR*.tmp files

We have been running Citrix/Terminal servers with roaming profiles for years.
Now we are having problems with the cached profiles not deleting. Most of
the profile deletes except for %user%\Local Settings\Temp folder. Inside the
temp folder there are these ZTR*.tmp files. The only way we can delete these
files and the remainder of the profile is to reboot the server then manually
delete the profile. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
Thanks, Ed

Which OS and SP are you running? Have you checked your EventLog for
specific reasons?
There are a number of hotfixes for profile load and unload errors.
Have you tried the UPHClean utility?

Hi Vera-

We are running W2K, SP4 with all the hotfixes you mentioned below (except
for 294268 as it is for IE5.5 and we are on IE6) including UPH Clean.

There is nothing in the event logs.

A posting on arstechnica.com suggests that these ztr*.tmp files are created
by printing .pdf files but we can't re-create the files or the problem. We
ran filemon and find nothing while printing .pdf's.

Thanks,
Ed

Yes, I found that posting as well, but can't recreate the problem
either.
Don't know if this will work, but have you tried to configure a
policy to exclude the Temp directory from roaming with the profile?

No...how would we go about excluding the %user%\Local Settings\Temp folder?

I don't believe that the local settings part of the profile roams. I
believe it gets created each time a user logs in and then just deletes when
they log off (at least it's supposed to).

Thanks,
Ed

Sorry, you are absolutely right!
I was thinking of the setting in User Configuration -
Administrative templates - System - User Profiles
"Exclude directories in roaming profile"

But as you say, by default the History, Local Settings, Temp, and
Temporary Internet Files folders are excluded from the user's
roaming profile.
