Cable Internet Connection Speed

I have three computers hooked up to a router. On one computer, the one
closest to the router and with the shortest cable, always downloads at
the paid for speed, 4GB. The other two, with 30 ft. cables, always
download at a little over 1 GB. The upload speed is the same on all of them.

I have tried removing all but one computer with the 30 ft. cable from
the router, no joy. I have tried switching the connections to the
router, no joy.

Is it the long cables?

Thanks!

Possibly, if the cables do not meet the proper specifications. Have you
tried moving one of the computers that is slow to the shorter cable? It may
be the computers, not the cables.

Are they all running Windows XP? Also, Cable Internet is a shared type network if there are many
people in your area connected at the same time your speed will be reduced.

Not the cables. I hooked one of the ones with a long cable to the cable
modem and it clocked in at almost 4MB. So, I guess it's the router but I
haven't a clue on how to reconfigure it. I meant to say MB instead of GB
for the connection speed :)

I found a manual for a BR-6104K at www.edimax.com No mention of a BR-6140K.
I couldn't see any settings on the router that would cause this. I would
suspect the cables. Can you move one of the pc's connected to a long cable
to where the pc connected to the short cable is and try it there? The only
other thing I can think of is the pc connected to the short cable setup in a
DMZ in the router configuration?

And how the PCs are hooked to the router?
(models and speed of Ethernet cards, please)

I disabled Micro DnP and all sorted (I think).
