C:\Program opens every startup

The folder C:\Program opens on every startup of XP. Besides from that it is
badly annoying, it perhaps is a sign of some more serious fault. Any idea on
how to get rid of this?

Thanks,
Inge

Hi,

Could you please export and post the contents of these keys in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To do this, start/run regedit, expand the branches to each key (do this one
at a time). Click on the key, then on file/export. Give it any name, then
save to the desktop. Once you have saved both keys, close the registry
editor. Right-click one of the saved files on the desktop, choose edit, it
should open in notepad. Click edit/select all/edit/copy. Open a response to
this post and click in the message text area. Hit ctrl+v to paste the
contents. Repeat for the other saved key, then send the post for
examination.

Hi Rick,

I have found a program with a service that, when enabled, causes the
C:\Program folder to open, as well as starting yet anther program, at login
to Windows XP. The program is Logitech Desktop Messenger, and the program
file is LDMConf.exe. It watches program updates over the Internet. How can a
program like this cause other programs to start automatically? Even if I have
found a way to prevent the problem, it would be valuable to know why this
could happen. I have sent a question to the supplier about this, but if you
have any reflection on it, please let me know.

Thanks,
Inge
