Startup/Startup

Somehow I have put "Startup" in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup. I believe it shouldn't be there, however, when I
attempt to delete it I get "Startup is a Windows system folder and is
required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be deleted". How do I
delete this folder?

In addition, when I start windows, the file "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Startup\Startup" is displayed in Explorer.
I believe this is caused by the additional Startup and will not be displayed
when the erroneous Startup is removed.

it is unclear why
you believe that
programs/startup
shouldn't be listed.

it is an alternate
method to start
programs other
than via msconfig.

some programs
have to be delayed
in starting until windows
finishes booting and
configuring itself.

All users have a Startup folder created when the user is created using
the All Users profile as a starting point. The Startup folder is
normally empty.

You should not try to delete the Startup folder itself, but you can
delete the contents of the folder if you don't want things to startup
automatically.

Sounds like you have some extra Startups in your Startup.

You can browse to the All Users Startup folder and see what is in
there and if you don't want it remove it. Check the same folder in
Documents and Settings under your login and adjust according to your
wishes. Removing items from this folder does not uninstall them.

You can also click Start, Programs, Startup to see what is particular
to your user login. Empty is usually good unless you put something in
there on purpose.

You can add startup items here also. I have added my email and web
browser to my Startup folder so they start when I login. This makes
sense for me since these are about the first things I am going to do
anyway.

Saves me two whole mouse clicks and I am ready to go.

The startup item I have added is "Startup". When I attempt to delete this
item I get the error message. It's not the Startup folder itself, I'm
attempting to delete, its the contents: "Startup".

Can you rename it before you try to delete it?

Yes, I can rename the folder. However, when I attempt to delete the new
name, I get the same error message referencing the old name (Startup). It's
as though the rename is not recognized. That's the problem I'm having.
Windows won't let me delete a folder with the name Startup. Windows has
restricted that name and will not let users delete it even though it's
erroneous .

I know there shouldn't be two folders with the name Startup. Startup\Startup.
