bypass password

As usual, the kids get the newest system. My son'sold
system is running Windows XP professional. He says that
there isn't a password, but I can't get by the password
screen. I've tried Going into F8, but am unsure of what
option to take or if this is even the route to take. I
can't change password or admin, until I can get in ":0)
