Im not sure if im in the right area for this, but here
goes. I had to recover Windows 2000 after a power failure.
Everything seems like it is working fine except the for
the buttons such as drop down menus; minimize, maximize,
close; and scroll up and down. The triangles that follow
start/programs, documents, settings, etc. look like mice
icons. The scroll up and down look like a file cabnet and
an hourglass. Just strange things like that. Is there any
way to restore the default button images? Thanks for the
help.

Try this. Right-click on the desktop | Properties | Appearance | Item dropdown choose Icon | dropdown size to 31 | Apply | OK. Now do the same thing again but this time put Icon size back to 32 | Apply | OK. Did that help?

George, thanks for the reply. I was finally able to use
search and I found the answer to my problem. It was a
missing font file, Marlett.ttf.

Where did you get the font and where did you read the solution? How do you think you lost it? Thanks.
