Is there any way to get Windows XP to burn dvd's without 3rd party softwear?
I have an external cd/dvd burner, and I would like to drag & drop files to
dvd's. I can do this with cd's using window explorer with just a few clicks.
Dvd's are a different thing. They just won't work in windows explorer. Is
there a upgrade to the softwaer that that windows explore uses?

Not sure what your 3rd party complaint is. I use Nero 6.x and its a
simple 2 pane, left/right, source/destination explorer. Oh yes, and a
burn cd button. Not much more to it than what you do, plus I can save
the job and modify it later.

CDBurnerXP is freeware if that's a hurdle, not a bad product. Should
work with DVDs even if the name does not imply it.

No to the first question.
No to the second question.
Vista might be the answer to the second question.

I use Easy CD Creator for all of my burning needs (and some that aren't so
burning).

No. It has no ability to do that and you need 3rd party software to
accomplish it.

If you're burning CDs by dragging and dropping, are you sure you don't
already have 3rd party CD burning software installed?

No, Windows XP has no native DVD burning function.

Incorrect. Windows XP supports writing to DVD-RAM discs out of the box -
provided the drive does.

This is how the Windows XP native CD burning utility works.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it didn't, but since I don't use the
native CD burning facility, I'll accept that I'm wrong about it.

Thans to all that replyed to my post. I am going to install some burning
softwear. I do belive the softwear that Windows XP uses to burn cd's is Roxio.
