Burning discs

I have Windows XP SP2 and have been trying to burn cd/dvd's but without
success. I had Pinnacle Systems Studio 8 installed but every time I got to
the last stage actually burning the disc my computer crashed. This happend
several time and Support at Microsft analysed the problem and said it could
possibly be a driver. I downloaded an update for Studio 8 but still had the
same problem, my computer crashed. I sent all the error messages to Pinnacle
and they have not got back to me, just offer me an update to Studio 10. I
tried my CD drive without using Studio just to access a disc and the computer
crashed again. Today I unstalled Pinnacle Stuido 8 and my disc is now
copying files O.K. Can anyone enlighten me as to why this happened and what
burning software is compatible with Windows Xp?

Thanks

I don't know what causes the problem with Pinnacle 8 but I have found
success in copying cd/dvd's using Alcohol 120 and Nero. Both are very good
if not free.

Never heard of anyone using Studio exclusively for burning. Primarily for
video conversions and video/audio manipulation.
Possibly, if you updated to SP2, may be the problem. Studio 8 was
introduced around time XP was relatively new. Guessing that's the reason
for offer of Studio 10.
Am still using Studio 7 in windows ME environment. And, yes, it burns DVDs
with resulting video from Studio.

Burning DVDs is no comparison to burning CDs in XP.
