safe mode + policy to prevent installation

I am having trouble installing a prog (Pinnacle Studio 12). I cannot do it
in normal mode so I tried safe mode. In safe mode with admin, I get the
message that policies have been set to prevent this installation. However,
this is the only prog that I have this issue with. I can install any other
prog in safe mode without problems. I am running XP + SP2. The computer was
never part of a domain and I am the only user (private computer). I tried
logging on with my user account (admin) and the default Admin account. No
success with either account.

Any suggestions?

And Pinnacle tech support says....?

I understand your abrupt comment however as Pinnacle support seem unable to
resolve a microsoft issue, I just thought that I might post a question on an
MS forum in the hope that I might get a helpful response.

The issue is with Pinnacle's software. You might get a response from someone
who has the same version of Pinnacle as you and who experienced the same
problem and knows how to solve it. Or you might not. Pinnacle is known for
having difficult software that often has issues.

I still think that your first call should be to Pinnacle since it is *not*
"a Microsoft issue" per se except that you are installing on a Microsoft
operating system.

I'm sorry that I was unable to help you and wish you the best of luck in
resolving your problem with Pinnacle.

I have been in contact with Pinnacle Support over the last week and they have
been unable to help although they do suggest that it's a Microsoft issue as
the problem relates to policy settings. I don't understand why their
software is the only software that generates the "admin has set policies to
prevent this installation" in safe mode. Is there any way to force XP to
install it in safe mode?
