I have reciently downloaded, converted, split and burnt two movies. the
reason why i convert and split is because i do not have a dvd burner i have
a 8x cd burner and i am using nero 5 to make the movies in to vcd's. now my
problem is that with the last two movies i burnt the first chunk or chunk 1
came out perfect no problems but when i went to burn chunk 2 it takes about
an hour and a half to encode the second part (which it never done before)
and when it finishes burning the vcd with out any problem being reported i
play the second disc and somewhere in the movie the video (just the video
not the sound) STOPS and the rest of the movie keeps playing cause i can
hear it in the background going. Now what i want to know is could it be a
couple of bad blank cds or that could it be?? I have been using memorex cds
but i have started to use nexxtech which i have found no problems with them
the ones the "crapped out" where memorex. Before you guys ask the two movies
that crapped out were halloween 4 and fantastic 4. but i burnt off halloween
1,2,3,and army of darkness and thay came out excellent. so like i asked
could it have been bad blank cds or what????

Could be anything - but if the burner still works and those CDs work fine
for everything else and you tried reducing your burn speed manually to make
sure that made no difference - then it is unlikely it is the media or the
hardware.

Something going awry in the burning process. Unlikely to be the media or
drive *if* you can eliminate them both simply because you can still use them
to burn other things - including other videos - without issues.

You did not say you actually tried varying the burn speeds. I have seen
this have an extraordinary affect on video CD/DVDs.
