I have a AMD XP2600+ {running at 2.01} with 768 ram and XP Pro. I can't get
my CD burner to see a blank CD that is in the recorder. The unit works fine
as far as, it will play DVD's and CD's but I can't get it to burn a CD. The
recorder is on Master (I check the back) and there is only one item on that
IDE cable the device manager is OK. I have tried burning useing Memorex
CD-RW's ; Fuji's CD-R ; and TDK's CD-R and I get the MESSAGE "INSTALL BLANK
CD IN TO D:" then you get to RETRY or CANCELL. If you click on retry it just
ask again. I have check every were and so far I can't find a answer. I know
someone is smarter than me or this PC.
THANKS for any help!!

Are you using a third party software such as Nero or EZ CD? If the drive
has any age on it then it's possible it's worn out.
If you can try it on another computer.

If it's a Lite On I would trash it. I use the same software. Rt click on
MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives. Rt
click on your drive and select Uninstall
Restart and let XP reinstall it. Then open MyComputer>rt click on your
cdrw drive>select Properties>Recording. Check the box "Enable CD Recording
on this drive". Finally rt click MyComputer>select Manage>Services. Make
sure that the
IMAPI CD Burning Service is not disabled.
