Built In CD Burner reports 0bytes available on new CD-Rs

Having a problem with XP Pro Built in CD Burner. The
software reports zero bytes available on new and used CD-
R and CD-RW's and will refuse to write files, reporting
that there is no space available. Other software works
perfectly. Might be related to SP2 because it did work at
one point.

I had the same problem until I did some research. Burned once the discs
were being read as CDRom rather than CDRW, and showed no space available.
I had to format them in UDF format using INCD from Nero and re-burn
everything I had on them. Now they show correct used/available space and
can be used like floppies.

Read up at my page http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm

The inbuilt burning is not a packet writing CD-RW one at all; but burns
sessions as for a CD-R. Such disks always show in Explorer as having
zero free space, but if you put one in the drive and open in My
Computer, it should show files on the disk together with an area of
files stashed up 'Waiting to be written'
