My built in CD burner on my Vaio laptop, running XP Pro SP2, will no longer
burn data to a cd. Everything works fine until I attempt to write the data to
the cd. The system reports that there is no cd in the drive. All services etc
are working correctly. This was working ok prior to SP 2. I believe a
registry setting may be missing:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD
Burning\Drives\Volume{xxxxxxxxxx.....xxxxxxx}
When clicking on the Volume key, an entry should appear on the right called
Drive Type, with a value of 1, 2 or 3.The values mean:
1 = CD-R drive
2 = CD-RW drive
3 = regular CD-Rom drive.
This entry is not present.
Does anyone know the correct syntax for this entry. Every attempt I have
made does not cure the problem.
Many thanks in advance,
David
