CD Burning - burners not in registry

CD burning capability recently stopped. CDs show up OK in Device Manager and
Control panel and play OK, but are not recognized as having burning
capability.

Looking at MS article KB316529 there are NO entries under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD
Burning\Drives

where I would expect to see the VOLUME data.
