Hi there,

I rebuilt a pC using all new part except the CD drive a 32
X speed and a 3 1/2 drive is a Athlon 2200 with 256 meg of
ram, all works ok except media player, when it plays audio
cd's it does a lot of buffering! Keeps pausing and then
restarting, no problems with data disks, using the
original media player that came with Windows XP Pro and
service pack one!

Your default settings in WMP for buffering is 5
seconds. You can change that to more time. That way it
will not go back and forth all the time. Go to
WMP/tools/options/Performance tab. Some times changing
the Virtual Memory settings will give better
performance. It should be set at 1.5 times the RAM, thus
in your case at - 384meg. Change it in
ControlPanel/Performance and Maintenance/System/Advanced.
