./btCore.js A required resource could not be loaded, would you...

George

After logging in to my MyWay.com email account, I am taken to a page which
displays the application loading on a horizontal bar graph. After it reaches
the 72% mark, the system freezes, the status bar reads "error on page" and
access to the mailbox is cut short. This is the pop-up message that appears:

../btCore.js A required resource could not be loaded, would you like to try
again?

After several attempts, sometimes this messge appears:

../btAppCalendarCore.js A required resource could not be loaded, would you
like to try again?

As far as I know all my Windows, Java and browser (IE 8) software is updated
and in good order. My ISP is PeoplePC Dial-up.

The technical people at BlueTie.com who evidently service the MyWay.com
system, contend that they have never encountered this problem before and will
not help further. My ISP says thier system is functioning properly and not at
fault. I have no problems getting into any other email services (Hotmail,
Yahoo, Gmail etc.) or other sign-in accounts (bsank, credit card...) on the
internet.

Has anyone an idea what I might do to correct the access problem I am having
with the MyWay.com email service?

Your setup is vastly different than mine, but I did a Google search
for: btCore.js

and got a couple hits that indicate your symptom and seem to relate to
anti virus softwares that may be installed. One person got theirs
working by removing Avast or Spybot. Norton and McAfee are also
suspects in other posts, so let's say for the moment that it is some
kind of conflict with certain AV software.

A Google search with all or part of an error message is a good place
to start looking for help.

The most promising hint appears to be:

http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/736024-excite-email-wont-load-btcore.html

Are you using any of those?

Of course you do not want to run without some protection for your
system. Maybe you can stop them one at a time or uninstall them one
at a time until you find the culprit. Personally, I don't care for
any of those packages and there are several good alternatives for
free.

See if that helps and report what you find or if you need more help.

Hello Jose,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have googled "./btCore.js" several times and didn't turn up much of
recent vintage or anything leading to a fix.

My antivirus is AVG and I did disable it when trying to load the email
application - didn't make a difference.

I've been with MyWay.com for about four years - the appeal was and is that
there are no ads. All worked beautifully until about a year ago when
MyWay.com was bought out, and the new firm installed a system (bluetie.com)
where the email application downloads each time you log-in. Since then it's
been hit-or-miss getting into the email - sometimes taking two or three tries
to get in. For the past two weeks I've been able to get access only twice
from my home computer. When I go to the public library with its high-speed
cable service, I get in easily.

I'm stumped and open to trying anything reasonable.

Were you having this problem before upgrading to IE8? Do you have a
clean dial-up connection? The symptoms sound like some sort of script
time out problem. Check your modem manufacturer's website for any
software updates for your version modem. Before I installed the web
update for my out of the box 56K modem, it would only connect at
31,200bps, but now more than 40,000, sometimes more than 50,000.

I am having the same problem 2/2/2014.I think AVG caused it I haven't found a fix. I erased AVG but the problem remains. Any ideas?

There's a suggestion here, it could be a combination of using the
NoScript plugin (which stops Javascript), plus the originating site
doing a redirect part way through the transaction. I gather, in NoScript
you can make exceptions, so files like btCore.js will download. But
if the source files start coming from a different server, you won't
have an entry in NoScript to let those through. If you use a packet
sniffer like Wireshark, you may be able to figure out what second
domain is being used for the downloads.

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23903875-Java-issue-security-or-poorly-scripted-page

And it's not Java, it's Javascript, and the title of that thread is not correct.
Still, I did get an interesting idea from it.

In addition to NoScript potentially interfering, there is possibly a browser
setting, which prevents files from a secondary site from running (i.e. a
redirect). The people providing information this way, have to be very
careful how they deliver it, or stupid things like this will happen.
It's just a "dumb delivery mechanism", with AV/adware/spyware tools
also on the lookout for the wrong behaviors from the browser. Lots
of things have to go right, for such a delivery scheme to work
without a flaw.
