BSOD after uninstalling NortonSystemWorksBloatware 2003...

Just tried to uninstall Norton bloatware Systemworks 2003 on a PC , (inludes
Norton Ghost and Go back), and now can't even get into Windows Safe Mode, or
Normal Mode, or even Command prompt, or any Windows Mode.

So I put in the XP Home SP1 cd for this particular PC, and it said it
couldn't find proof of a previous version of Windows, (so it looks like it's
an XP upgrade version?), so I stuck in my old W98se cd and that didn't do it
!

Keep getting a BSOD but, too quick to read it. A big white "Symantec Norton
GOBACK" is intercepting Windows start-up and I've chosen disable, and now
there's a "Removing Norton GoBack history from drive C:." and it's really
CRAWLING along. ...half hour now and currently at 45% ...and I'm sure I'm
going to get a BSOD when it restarts. I've already got the Norton clean-up
tools form Symantec but, can't get into Windows to run'em.

I only need to get into windows to retrieve ISP dial up connection settings,
then I could wipe it, put in my old W98se then run this horrid XP update ?

any help appreciated, ...TIA

Richard

....I think I'd rather reinstall it from scratch, or maybe even fight with
BartPE :)

RJK - You do not indicate what the screen shows upon attempting to boot.
Regarding "...So I put in the XP Home SP1 cd for this particular PC, and it
said it couldn't find proof of a previous version of Windows,..."
Was this an attempt to boot from the CD?

Hi, thanks AJR ...it was a C00000021a Stop ...Fatal Exception but, forget
that now becuse I had to use <blush> Norton Goback to restore the thing as
it was approx. 4 hours ago and I am now able to boot Windows in Normal Mode.

.....so now I'm going to gather up the few odds and ends I need and then, do
a little research on removing the Symantec c**p ! :)
