browser problems

I just did a system recovery after a virus problem.
now when I connect to internet using sbc dsl I can
browse for about 5 minutes when my browser will stop.
when I try to go to a web page I get page not displayed
error. I am still connected but cannot browse. I spent
about 4 hours with sbc customer service trying everything
and it came down to them telling me that I have a virus
that is causing the problem. I run norton and ca antivirus
and it comes up clean. If I restart cpu and log on I can
browse for another 5 minutes then it stops. I also
can not do a system restore it tells me that it cannot
restore to point I wanted. beside that the computer runs
great.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi blorb :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

IE shuts down after a few minutes with Page has expired (ADSL)

Internet connection 'freezes' - data going to and from modem seems to
pause http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers2.htm#connection_freeze

Recreating the cache, history and cookie folders when corrupted

Can't display page (Server or DNS error) or "Internet Explorer could not
open the search page"
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#dns

Hard reset the modem. Shutdown your computer, unplug cable to modem,
wait 10-15 seconds, then plug the cable back in to the modem. Then
restart the computer.

LSPFIX - may enable you to regain your connection.

IE stops working or drops connections after a while or in hibernate mode

Start>Settings> Control Panel>Network and Dial-up Connections>Local Area
Connection>Properties>Configure>Power Management tab>uncheck Allow the
computer to turn off this device to save power.
