hi, my uncle has just upgraded from dial up to bb, since then none of his e
mail address will work. his old one in outlook express gives him error
message 0x800ccc79. i have been through all the settings with him and as far
as i can tell they are set as they should be. second prob with his bt/yahoo
and hotmail is he gets the error message "browser cannot accept cookies" ive
been through all the help i can find on that and his browser is set to accept
cookies. i had him ring his isp and they went through every thing i had done,
told him his browser was set up to accept cookies and they couldnt help him ,
as its a browser problem. im at a loss now what to try. hes a novice on pc's
and as i live 200 miles away i cant get to look at it.i had him empty his
cookie folder in internet ex, i really do not understand it, every thing
worked fine till the upgrade. would doing a scan disc make a diff? , someone
did suggest installing a new browser like firefox, but that really isnt an
option for him just now, he just about knows how to turn it on and off. any
suggestions i would be most grateful for. ty

"none of his email addresses will work"
Do you mean the addresses he is trying to send to or the address he is
sending from?
Is he connected to the ISP whose SMTP sever he is trying to use?

That error message in OE can be caused by one of two issues -

1. In OE go to Tools...Accounts...Mail tab, click to highlight email
account in question, click Properties. On the General tab, make sure the
Email address and the Reply address are correct, and that there are no
trailing spaces.

2. Then go to the Advanced tab, and make sure the "This server requires a
secure connection (SSL)" check boxes are set per what your email account
provider/ISP require.
