Hello, please help me if you can, I have been working on
this problem for countless days/hours/months.
When I attempt to use my Internet Explorer to dial-up an
internet provider, even though my username and password
are correct (I have checked this carefully), I am
disconnected from the ISP because and here is the wording
of the error exactly; "Access was denied because the
username and/or password was invalid on the domain". I
know the modem/dial-up is connecting, I can hear it and
see it connect, it hangs-up because it does not recognize
my username/password. This has happened with two
different ISP's. The first ISP spent days with me on the
phone trying to rectify the problem, they did some
advanced changes on my computer-I am not sure what, but
it did not work. Now here I am again trying to get
Earthlink as a ISP and they can't figure out what to do
either. The only way I can access the internet is by
using Compuserve because they have their own browser. At
the top of my screen when I pull up my Internet Explorer
are the words; "about: blank-E-Guys.com Internet
Explorer". I think the browser has been corrupted by E-
Guys software but I cannot get it off my computer. I
would give almost anything to solve this. I need to get
away from Compuserve, they are failing fast.
My computer is Hewlett Packard, with windows Xp, I run
Norton firewall and anti-virus and I disabled them in
order to install the ISP software ( have reinstalled
twice-this is not the problem). I do not have a virus, I
am totally up to date on all Microsoft updates, I just
downloaded/installed XP sp1-a. I tried to
uninstall "internet explorer" and when I restarted my
computer, just ended up with 2 "internet explorers" the
second one has a (1) behind it.
I am desperate, I cannot afford to spend money on this.

Unfortunately, XPee has allowed certain unwated 'critters' into your system
(probably some adware or spyware, possibly a virus or worm also). If you
download a couple of the adware/spyware cleanup apps and try them out, it will
more than likely get the problem(s), *but*, that particular dial-up account may
be shot already.
Also, you *do not* need to install your ISP's software. Just ask the ISP for
the phone # to dial into, and also know your user name and password of course.
That's all you need.
I usually just create a new dial-up account, and once I see it's working, I
delete the old one that was screwed up. Use the new working one to get your
system protected quickly and download a firewall app, and an AV app as soon as
you can.
Good luck.

Create another dial up account & if it is windows XP do-
netsh int ip reset log.txt at command prompt & then press
enter.Restart PC & try.If fails ask your ISP to reset
your password & try.If all these fails the only best
solution is to reinstall O.S
