Browser Closes

Internet explorer 6.0 closes when I try to access some web
sites. Sometimes the site appears briefly prior to the
browser closing. I've installed SP1, restored the system
to an earlier time, the firewall and antivirus software
are working fine. I've also installed and run AdWare 6.0
with Adwatch. Anyone have any suggestions on how to cure
this problem?

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
You may also have to set the Home Page to about:blank

Then eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

I have this same problem on IE6 SP1, Win 2OOO Pro. I have run all of the spyware removal tools I can find and have removed a few minor items but nothing major. The problem goes away if "third party extensions" are disabled in advanced options. I can recreate the problem every time by navigating to this URL: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wpa/compa...languagecode=en&longsegmentcode=&compaqbrand=

I have done the basics ie: flushed cache, deleted cookies, deleted all downloaded programs, reinstalled the JRE, rean scan disk and defrag, ran numeroous spyware removal tools, have up to date virus protection, personal and corporate firewalls in place

The only solution I have at this time is a complete rebuild

Any other ideas
