I recently signed up for broadband for my PC. The company ran a check on my line everything ok, I installed the modem..looking good. I waited for the line to activate...getting there. I tried to connect last night and according to the software there is no dialling tone.
Am I doing something stupid?
I have a broadband filter in my phone socket, one in my modem socket and one in my Sky interactive socket.

Anyone any ideas?

Is the line activated already, as it can take about a week in most cases?

Yeah, I should have made that clear I received an e-mail at the weekend saying the line was now active.:(

That is very strange then. Do you know which lights are on, on the front of the modem?

Broadband doesnt need a "dial" tone, so I think the software has been configured incorrectly. Did you use a CD that came with your ISP/Modem, or did you buy the bits yourself and configure them?

goto control panel !
then goto internet options
then click on the connection tab
then make sure the (never dial a connection) is selected

hope that helped you - that all i need to do when i got suck !!
