Check the BIOS for the drive detection boot order and change it to the proper boot
order if necessary.

If only one drive is installed then your boot.ini is fine.

As mentioned previously you need to check the boot order in the BIOS.
To enter the BIOS press the DEL key during the POST (Power on self test), first
screen at startup displaying memory count, drive detection, etc. The POST may not be
visible if the manufacturers logo is enabled.
Once in the BIOS select Boot on the top of the settings display, set your HD as the
first drive detected and to boot from if not already set. Once set press the ESC key
and select Exit > Exit and Save Changes.

Post back with the results.

Damn key trigger happy fingers hit send to quick.

I have to ask, aside from trying updated drivers are you selecting 60Hz with the
1280x1024 resolution? If yes:
Are you selecting those settings in Display Properties or the monitor controls?
Either way whichever one, try the other to see if it helps.

Are the graphics integrated onboard or do you have a PCI or AGP card installed?
If it's a card installed open the box up and make sure that it is seated properly in
its slot.
Check the cable from the monitor to the machine for any problems and make sure it's
firmly connected.
Also download/install updated graphics drivers per the manufacturers instructions
from their support site.

Brian,

I am sure I must be trying your patience, It seems to me that I have no
drivers installed for this monitor as far as I can tell as it does not show
fujisu in the monitor display, my model is scaleoview c17 - 3 which is not
shown on the link you supplied, I found this model at fujitsu i downloaded
something but thats as far as I got, I have no idea where it went on my pc,
my information is the same in display monitor no fujisu.
I am just a novice that likes to try before I take it to the shop. I still
have the box the monitor came in but no installation disc, I am now thinking
this is my problem I have nothing installed for this monitor. Ive been at it
5 hours now about to give up I think.
many thanks

Nah, my patience is doing something else at the moment on spring break.

Most monitors will gladly play nice with the drivers supplied by an OS, when issues
arise however, installing drivers from the manufacturer can resolve it if it's not a
problem that no amount of drivers will take care of. If you have another machine
close at hand you could connect your monitor to it and see if it behaves or not, if
it does then you know the monitor is still good. Test another monitor on your
machine and see if it has the same issue or not, if it does then you know it's in the
machines software/hardware.

You mean this site I provided the link for hid this on you? For shame of them!
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/support/downloads.html

At the linked page select:
"All" under category.
"Windows XP" under operating system.
Click "Go".

On the next page if you are not at the downloads yet and have List boxes to select
from, select:
Displays, TVs and Projectors > TFT Displays > Scaleoview CXXX > Scaleoview C17-3.

On the download page click on the name of the item you want to download and it will
take you to a second page.
Click the check input box to agree with the terms.
Click the Download button.
Click the Download Description button.

I've downloaded the drivers and adjustment files w/docs to look at in case you get
stumped along the line.
I am just a novice that likes to try before I take it to the shop. I still
have the box the monitor came in but no installation disc, I am now thinking
this is my problem I have nothing installed for this monitor. Ive been at it
5 hours now about to give up I think.
many thanks

Sounds very much like the way myself and others learned. The only thing with me is
it would never get to a shop, I never gave up until it was fixed or totally broke.

If it's a card installed open the box up and make sure that it is seated properly
in
its slot.
Check the cable from the monitor to the machine for any problems and make sure
it's

Also download/install updated graphics drivers per the manufacturers instructions

Update, I found and ran the program, that brought up a coloured screen and
said it is set at 1024 x 768 60Hz. gone back to check my display settings and
they are all the same, there is no refresh rate, just the message that it is
"use hardware default setting" is this where we give up Brian ? you have done
your best for me and I really do thank you, I am beginning to wish I had not
bought this pc and stuck with my old one, I am a silver surfer well in fact a
bald one and this is starting to get over my head I think.

It won't be over your head as there is a few options left to try.
First I would like to know the Make/Model of your video/graphics adapter/chip. I'll
provide a link for the latest updated drivers to download/install before continuing
with the monitor, it may not be the issue and there's a likelyhood it has to do with
the video/graphics adapter/chip. Also, do you have a neighbor/friend/relative that
would be willing to let you connect your monitor to their machine to test/see if it's
the monitor or something to-do with your machine?

Once you have the video drivers downloaded/extracted to a folder:
Boot to Safe Mode > Device Manager and remove any/all devices listed in both the
Display Adapters and Monitors. Don't keep any especially if more than one are
present since any one could be corrupt and you don't know which one. Once the
devices are removed close out of Device Manager and Reboot.
Windows will redetect/reinstall the devices drivers. If the issue isn't resolved
then we'll get at updating the drivers using the drivers you downloaded/extracted to
see if we can't put a halt to the issue.

Try the above first and if still no joy we'll have a go at updating the drivers.

One more quick question: To get at and change the Refresh Rate, you are clicking
on the Settings tab > Advanced button > Monitor tab, correct?

And one more: Have you tried the settings buttons on the monitor? One of the
buttons is an AutoAdjust.

Brian,

I do apologize for not coming back sooner with an update, I did not get an
email to say there had been a response, I just came and found you had replied
to me, here is my position, I phoned the fujistu support number at the
premium cost several times, it was in fact as you said the drivers were
missing radeon x600 apparentley, they talked me through downloading and
installing them now the monitor is working fine and dandy.

you have been a star in your help patience and support, thank you so much.
