i inadvertantly set up a workgroup (which i don't have)
and now can not log onto my computer (win 2000 prof).
so i am thinking i can boot off the orig cd. when i put in
that cd (the shinny silver one), it loads lots of files,
then gives me 3 options:

1. install windows
2. repair prev windows setup
3. exit setup

a. i d'ont want 1
b. i tried 3, but it just reboots and comes to same screen
c. will 2 work (i.e., allow me to do the fix) without
rewriting my whole hd?

any other suggestions apreciated
thanks

Not sure what you mean by setting up a workgroup - Windows 2k Pro will be in
a workgroup by default unless you set it up to log into a domain. There is
no central database of user accounts/passwords in a workgroup, so it sounds
like you may just have set your administrator password to something you
don't know.... if so, see http://securityadmin.info/faq.asp#password
