boot with CF is slow

Hi,
Actually my Xpe takes about 2 minutes to boot with a EXTREME III CF of
2Go.

I think that's in part due to the CF speed that is a little bit slow
for our application. If I a HD with the same image, It takes twice the
time to boot (1 minute with HD).

My actual configuration is:

- a CF of 2Gb in Master booting the OS -> the CF is protected by EWF
(DISK mode)
- a HD of 40Gb in Slave for storing data and EWF overlay
I though that working with a HD for overlay would decrease boot up
time but it doesn't.

Do you have any suggestions for decreasing boot time with CF
technology ?

What kind of machine? Our system is bnooting from a SD Ultra 2 and
loading the application in exactly one minute from turning the switch.

Does your CF adapter and IDE port have the correct wiring for DMA
support? This was an issue with our system...

Dear glv,

Please check your BIOS setting first.

Does it support DMA mode for CF Card?

If your CF only executes in PIO mode, the booting time should be very
slow.
