Boot up problems

My laptop displays the next message when it boots up:

"Windows could not start because the fololowing file is missiong or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system"

I loaded the setpu disk and try to use the Recovery Console but, I stop on a
message that says:

"Which windows installation would you like to log onto"

I press C and nothing happens.

I need more help thanks

Hi,

You should be pressing the number indicating the installation listed,
usually a "1".

Christina, have you read this KB article on your specific problem? If
not do so and read the Description of the Recovery
Console. When it asks for which installation you would like to log on
it it's usually a number 1, 2 etc.
