boot up problem

it all started with my keyboard - some of the keys began to behave strangely.

eg - pressing the i key resulted in i, appearing, pressing 1 resulted in 1z
etc.

whilst looking in help IE went mad and kept opening windows faster than i
could close them (was not connected to internet at the time) so i did
ctl/alt/del and shut down from there

so i shut down and started up again and from the start up screen (where the
screen is black and it does a memory check and it says press del for set up)
it goes direct to a CBOS set up screen. if i exit from that it goes back to
the initial screen and then into set up again.

does anyone have any ideas about what is wrong?
 
Stuck key on your keyboard maybe? or keyboard malfunction?
Windows has nothing to do with a computers POST operation so that's the only
thing I can think of.
