Boot Question

I reinstalled XP & now before windows starts I get a message to press [DEL]
to resume. Once I do it windows boots. Why

That sounds like a BIOS message, and won't have much at all to do with XP.
There is almost certainly other text on the screen that will tell you why
this message appears. It may well be that there is some misconfiguration
in the BIOS, or that the battery is low and needs replacing.
