I am having a problem with my computer booting up I have tried safemode and
it still isn't working. It gets to the config\system file when it list files
then it gets stuck andwon'tproceed. Any ideas wouldbe apreciated.

What started the problem?

Did you add *any* hardware, such as a new printer, scanner, memory,
anything?

Hi

What, if any, is the exact error message? Have you tried 'Last Known Good
Configuration' - from the same screen as Safe Mode?

I didn't install anything I had my computer turned off while I was out of town for a week and when I came home andturned it on it startedup and when it went to the black screen before the boot screen and never went any farther.

I have tried both of those and it doesn't give an error message it gets stuck

Hi

If you can't access Windows via any of those options, you'll have to try a
'Repair' install of XP. Please see the following article by Michael

Hi

I've come across this problem a couple of times, once on a Windows 98 setup
and again this evening on a Windows XP setup. This may or may not work for
you but has for my clients even though the printers had been working fine
before. The problem just "came from nowhere".

If you have a USB printer (especially if it's a Lexmark) try unplugging it
from the USB port. Reboot and if Windows loads uninstall and then reinstall
the printer. I have no idea why this worked because both times the printers
had been installed for sometime and worked perfectly. Tonights problem was
caused when installing camera software and rebooting for the first time
afterwards. I can only guess it is a driver related issue but if sombody
could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

I hope this works for you, got to be worth a try anyway

Regards
