I am running win 2000 w/ SP-4 reciently my computer would
not boot. It would only give me a blinking cursor in
upper left hand corner of the screen.

I placed the win 2000 CD in the cd-rom drive rebooted and
at the option to boot to CD i just let it go without
hitting a key then it then booted to the Hard drive just
fine. any clue as to why i have to have my CD in the
optical drive to boot to my HDD?

Your system partition may not be set to "active".
Boot with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com,
then run fdisk.exe to check and/or set the active flag.
