Hi,

I thought that boot was hanging on "mup" but I disabled it and now boot is
hanging on NDIS, the service that was previous to mup. This leads me to
think that the REAL hang is on the service AFTER mup, but I don't know what
that service is!

Where is the list of services that are executed at startup so that I can see
what "the one after mup" is?

TIA,

Larry Woods

You are correct in your assumption that something is hanging, but it
probably isn't the mup service or even the one after that. Try going
into Safe Mode and doing a clean boot.

mup.sys is the *last* file that normally loads when booting the system.
If you see a hang after that it is some fault during system
initialisation that is most probably quite unconnected with mup.
Probably a driver and very possibly a video one. Try a boot with F8 as
BIOS info goes to black, taking Safe Mode. If that loads, then it is a
driver.. In it, run msconfig.exe and in the Boot.ini section choose
/BASEVIDEO, OK and exit to reboot. If that boots, but in basic 800x600
resolution, then look for replacement video drivers from the maker's
site
