I have dual boot on my system - Win2K on C: and Win XP on
D:. I wish to uninstall Win2K from C: which I can do it
myself but I am unable to locate the files boot.ini,
ntldr, ntdetect. hibernil and others. I have enabled the
option to view hidden files and view operating system
files from folder options.

My file system is FAT32.
Any help is muchly appreciated.

regards

Boot into windows xp, open my computer, click on the tools menu > folder
options > click on the view tab > uncheck 'hide protected operating system
files"
now open my computer, then open drive C, and you should see those files,
although DO NOT DELETE these files. Windows xp also used ntldr,
ntdetect.com, and boot.ini.

To remove the windows 2k install, you need to edit the boot.ini file to
remove the mult0... line that refers to win2k. then delete the winnt folder
from drive C. You may also wish to delete the 'documents and settings' and
'program files' from drive C also.

the boot.ini file is a read only file so you might have to right click the
file, properties, and uncheck 'read only' in order to save changes to the
file.

Good luck
