I downloaded a boot disk (MS Windows XP System setup disk
Allows you to boot from a single floppy disk, partition
and format the drive and then begin the XP installation
from CD.)to allow for a new hard disk installation of XP
Pro. The disk did install the CDROM drivers and allowed
access to the XP installation disk but I got the following
message: "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."

What do I do now to get the OS installed on my new hard
drive?

First, you don't need the diskette as the WInXP CD is bootable and will
launch the setup program.

Second, the XP (and NT and Win2000) setup program is actually *not named
setup.exe*. It's \i386\winnt.exe. That one will run from a DOS prompt.
