Boot crash

When I boot up XP it always comes to a blue screen and "Checks File system F:
for errors". I have all my programs in C: and my documents and files in F:
drive. Usually while checking F: drive the computer crashes and repeats the
process. It eventually
manages to check F: drive and boot up successfully after two or three tries.
It does not report any errors in the drive. I have scanned for viruses and
found nothing. Any suggestions gratefully received?

Have you looked in the Event Viewer for disk errors?

start>run and type

eventvwr

in the left hand pane select "System" then in the right hand pane look for
any errors being reported.
