I'm using a laptop with Windows 200 while another laptop is being fixed. The other night I changed some of the startup settings in the course of linking the backup laptop to a wireless network. But when I turned on the computer for the first time after that, it didn't recognize my username and password. I don't know a lot about this computer, so I don't know how to get back to using the password I've been using. HELP! This is an annoying pain in the ass...

You probably moved from a "Domain logon" to a "Local logonn". If so then you
have to ask your network administrator to re-register your machine on the
domain, or to give you a local account / password.

you should still be able to access netwrok resources using connect as from
explorer etc. it will prompt for your domain credentials - provided the
network is there - run cmd and ipconfig/all to see if you are on the
network

Greetings --

By changing the computer from the domain to a workgroup, you have
destroyed the trust between the domain and the machine. In doing so,
you have also rendered any domain login credentials as invalid. You
need to be physically connected to the domain network, you need to
have administrative privileges to the workstation, and you need to
have administrative privileges on the domain. Then you can add the
machine back on to the domain, after having first deleted the
computer's old domain account (unless you've also renamed the
computer).
