I have a Gateway Laptop with bluetooth installed ,Model M465E
I am trying to install a bluetooth logitech mouse. Each time I attempt i get
a message to upgrade the drivers.
Since Gateway has sold out to MCP and they MCP,are in Chater 11, there is no
access to the upgrade.
Can anyone tell me what I might do to correct this , or do I need to
reinstall a new card and start from scratch. Is there any place else to get
the upgrade drivers. Thanks for any help.

It is asking for a bluetooth driver update .
At present Version 5.0.1.2200 is installed
I checked support , but did not find anything later than the version listed.
If i put in a new card will I have a problem installing the device on this
computer.
Thanks

If there is no revised version from Gateway, you can take a look on
Broadcom's web site (Gateway's Bluetooth uses Widcomm Bluetooth.
Widcomm was bought by Broadcom a few years ago.)

If this does not help, you may have to replace the Gateway's Bluetooth
with a newer Bluetooth USB adapter (turn off Gateway's Bluetooth
before adding the new one.)

I was able to download a later driver for the bluetooth , but I still can't
get the device to be recognized.
Also I think I am having a problem activating the Bluetoothg. When I hold
down the FN and the F6 keys nothing happ4ns ad the icon in the task bar
stays red , which means it is not activated.
Thanks for the earlier info .

After trying all the suggestions that the good people sent me , I find that
the first major problem I have is that I can't get the Bluetooth radio
adapter to turn on.
I have an Intel Pro wireless 3945ABG 802.1 ABG mini PCI card installed in
the notebook.
How would I go about turning this on ? Using the FN-F6 key does not do it.
I do not have the original software for this to even try to reinstall it.
I am very thankful for all the help I have received so far and look forward
to someone with the right solution.
Thanks all

ntel Pro wireless 3945ABG 802.1 ABG min-PCI is not a Bluetooth
module. This is for setting up a WiFi wireless network with a
wireless broadband router.

Access the Device Manager and look for Bluetooth Device / Radios.

In Device manager, under Bluetooth Devices, I find only Bluetooth Bus
Enumerator. Upon clicking on this I get the following: Driver Version
5.0.1.2200 ,Manufacturer: Broadcom, General : This device is working properly.
Is this what I should have sent. Thanks

You're in luck, Broadcom recently released new Bluetooth software/driver for
Windows (7/Vista/XP/2000)

http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php

It will download an installer, which will download the rest of the software
and drivers.

Thanks for the info , I have downloaded the software and saved it . But the
one problem I have now is that it calls to verify that Bluetooth is turned
on. I can't seem to to able to turn the Bluetooth adapter on . I know I have
an embedded Bluetooth wireless adapter, as this is shown in device manager,
also in the task bar . Can you instruct me how I would go about to turn that
on, or why I can't activate that. I have tried the FN-F6 thing , but that
doesn't do it.
Thanks for the help.

"C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exe"
Run this program to get Bluetooth in your system tray and a shortcut to
it should be in your startup folder. If it's not in that folder search
for it on your hard disk. You should be able to download drivers from
your computers manufacturer, Gateway has in the past been pretty decent
about posting drivers and updates on their website. You should have My
Bluetooth Places icons in my computer, on your start menu, in the
programs menu, in your system tray unless they were all deleted.

I have installed all the software and the drivers . My problem is that I
can't get the Bluetooth enabled. I have tried the FN_F6 keys , but to no
avail. Can anyone tell me what I can do from here to enable it. Thanks for
the help.
