Blue Screen

I've had problems logging on to windows xp recently. First, I unplugged my
network cable from my computer. After re-connecting it, my internet
connection did not work. I did an ipconfig to see if it was finding an ip
address. It wasn't so I did Ipconfig /release. It than showed zeroes for my
ip address. I than tried ipconfig /renew. It was unable to contact dhcp for
whatever reason. I unscrewed my cable plugged into the modem and shut down
the computer. I waited 30 seconds and screwed the cable back into the modem
and turned the computer back on. After it got past the windows screen, it
went to a blue screen with the blah blah blah message that I've already
researched. Anyways, I rebooted in safe-mode and checked my device manager
for any errors. I noticed that under ethernet adapters there were like 9 new
adapters. I went through and disabled each adapter except for the one that I
knew the network cable would be plugged into. I than restarted my computer
and booted it normally. It booted up just fine but my internet connection
didnt work. I went to the device manager and began enabling the ethernet
adapters that I had previously disabled to find that after each one enabled
they would disappear off of the device manager list. After getting them all
off of that list and enabled, I did the ipconfig /all, and walah my internet
worked again. Everything was perfect. I than went to sleep and woke up to a
powersurge. I turned my computer on and got the same blue screen. I
repeated the same steps and everything is now working again. I need a
permanent fix to what's causing this. Any ideas?

Also noticed these errors in t he event viewer:

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to
start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:

Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because NDISWAN could not
be opened.

The System Event Notification service depends on the COM+ Event System
service which failed to start because of the following error:

has no enabled devices associated with it

You have provided lots of information but it is difficult to see the
sequence of events.

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in
the System and Application logs for the last boot and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative
Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the
error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using
copy and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no
further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and
double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which
appears is a button resembling two pages. Double click the
button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email)
and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting
from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
