Blue Screen of Death!

When I try to get onto windows xp, I get BSOD. Main
message says UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME. The technical
information says:

STOP: 0x000000ED (0x80E9B030, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000,
0x000000000)

Have tried choosing last known settings that worked and
some other options, but nothing will work. Screen also
says something about trying to disable BIOS memory options
such as caching & shadowing. Any ideas?
