Blue screen of death- HELP!

I just installed a new motherboard and chipset and now I cannot load Windows
XP Pro, I get the Stop: 0x0000007b, inaccesible drive error.
I have changed out the IDE cable, checked to make sure the cables were in,
and tried to reinstall XP. When I went to install XP, it told me that no
prior installment could be found (I only have the upgrade disc). But when I
do a recovery, it scans the 1 installment. After running the recovery, I
still get the same error message. I checked to make sure the motherboard is
listed under the approved hardware, and it is. What am I missing? The hard
drive was working fine until I changed the motherboard.
Please advise,

10. Stop 0x0000007B or INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE---WinXP can not locate
the system partition or boot volume. This error may occur after
repartition or upgrading of the disk controller. The boot.ini file may
no longer point to the correct partitions or the hardware may not be
configured properly. Try the Recovery Console and use the Bootcfg
command to repair the Boot.ini file.

Please advise,

Remove the hard drive and install it in another computer. Backup any
important data that is on the hard drive. Put the hard drive back in the
original computer. Alternatively boot from a live Linux CD and copy your
data to a CD or DVD. Boot from the XP disk to the recovery console. Run
chkdsk /r. This may take several hours depending on the size of the drive.
See if XP will now boot. If it doesn't there may something wrong with the
drive. Download the manufacturer's diagnostic and test the drive. If it
passes, format the drive, reinstall Windows and restore your data from the
backup.

NOTE: It is important to get any data off the drive before you go any
further. Doing any more troubleshooting will only increase the chances of
data loss.

Please advise,

With a new motherboard and chipset you *must* do a Repair Install of
Windows XP as per the instructions at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

If you can boot to the Windows XP Recovery Console using your install
CD then you should first run the following command:

CHKDSK C: /R

Then reboot the computer from the Windows XP Upgrade CD and follow the
Repair Install instructions as per the above link.

Good luck

I missed the part about the new motherboard. Ron Martell is right. Perform a
repair install. Backup your data first.

Thanks everyone.
After talking with MS for 3 hours, I ended up having the hal.dll error. So
I forced the driver for the hdd, which was what the problem was.
Thanks again,
