Problem: Blue screen errors (mainly page_fault_in_non_paged_area an
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal although I have received others a
well.)

History: I had a trojan infection and was unable to clean/remov
completely, although pc was stable. Formatted my hd and reinstalled X
with some difficulty (kept getting blue screen randomly durin
installation) which leads me to beleive this is a hardware problem.
have several old HD's and unfrotunately I have only managed to instal
XP on a very old and noisy thrashy disk, attempts to install on othe
HD's have failed due to blue screen errors. Now pc will keep crashing

Actions taken:
Formatted Hd and reinstalled XP SP2.
Downloaded and applied all security updates.
Changed RAM modules.
Changed PSU.
Changed video card.
Loaded fails safe defaults in BIOS.
Flashed BIOS with update.

Hardwa
AMD Duron 1.3Ghz
768Mb SD RAM (3x256Mb)
Samsung CD-RW
8.4Gb Seagate HD (Master)
20Gb Maxtor HD (Slave)
ATI Radeon 9250 AGP graphics
2 USB 1.0 card
generic network and modem card.

Any advice would be appreciated as I cannot afford another PC at th
moment or to spend any more money on components that are not faulty

No I hadn't thought of that but it's a good point; I'll give it a go
thanks.

Just had a thought though, if the cables were faulty wouldn't the
system have difficulty communicating with the IDE devices?

I would have thought this would be the reult of torn, crimped or
damaged cables and I am not having any such difficulty with IDE device
connectivity.

I am inclined to beleive that this may be a memory fault. Various files
have been listed in the blue screens such as

USBOHC.SYS
WIN32K.SYS
ACPI.SYS

As this is a new install of XP, and the problem occurs during setup
with a faromatted drive I have ruled out software and am focusing on
hardware.

I may try removing all but necessary hardware and adding back from
there to see if I can isolate it
