I have XP and had this happen once in a while when I first
got my laptop with XP on it a year ago. Don't know what
happened but it quit doing it. This week (after getting
lots of updates sent automatically from MS...don't know if
that has anything to do with it) it has happened at least
4-5 times. I haven't installed anything new.
Symptom:
The screen turns blue and is covered from top to bottom
with white text. At the bottom is a counter which starts
at 1 and goes upward. Some place in the text it says it is
"deleting" things from my computer. I haven't read the
whole text because I'm afraid that the longer I leave it on
the more it'll take off so I immediately shut down the
computer. Today it happened when I had just logged on and
pulled up my email message screen. I noticed I had two new
emails and then the blue screen came up. After I logged on
again I went to my emails and the two new ones at the top
of the list were not longer there. I can't remember when
this screen usually happens. It was emails this time, but
I don't believe it is always that that causes the crash.
I really hope there is someone out there that has been
through this and can help me. I didn't ever get this
screen until I started using XP.

You are recieving a Kernel STOP message which indicates a
potentially serious problem.

You can check the STOP error crashes:
Click Start > Run... > eventvwr {OK} > Click the System
secion and sort by Error Type. Look for the error
type: "Savedump".
If you have a lot of these you are crashing Windows...
continue....
You may have any of the following:
STOP errors such as : 0x0000050 => defective memory.

Please take note of the STOP code.
NOTE: It does not say deleting it says "Writing Dump file"
and pretains to creating a dump file and bugcheck
information.
