Blue Screen Crash on Dialup

I have been experiencing Blue screen crashes while
dialing up my ISP with Conexant SmartHSFi V92 56K
The computer dials the ISP, begins handshaking then goes
bluescreen. It doesn't crash under any other conditions.

This has occured about 50 times since the purchase of the
computer about 2 months ago.

Error varies each time but always takes the form of this
instance of Nov 26 about 9:30AM Eastern:

*** STOP 0x0000000D1 (0X00000020, 0X00000002, 0X00000000,
0XF81E085F)
which I've learned is most often a driver.

in an earlier instance:

*** STOP 0x0000000D1 (0X342F616C, 0X00000002, 0X00000000,
0X342F616C)

in a third instance:

*** STOP 0x0000000D1 (0X46323241, 0X00000002, 0X00000000,
0X46323241)

The only time a specific program was mentioned, the
message read:

*** STOP 0x0000000D1 (0X00000020, 0X00000002, 0X00000000,
0XF81E085F)

**** HSFHWBS2.SYS Address F81E085F base at F81D2000
Date Stamp 3dbe9d51

After that particular crash, a Dell Tech advised me to
download and run the program:
R56192.EXE

I did this and got some improvement in the Modem's
efficiency - the connection speed was the same, but there
were fewer periods when the incoming transmission sat
idle. But the sysem still crashed. This time while I
was dialing my ISP

System is a Dimension 8300 Pentium 4 2.5GHz, 512 MB 80GB
drive with HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM and NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A
Using Sonic RecordNow and Power DVD Running Windows XP

Since this post was originally made to Dell's community
forum Dell has sent a new motherboard and conexant modem
which I installed.
I have:
Disabled all startup services except McAfee
removed the canon printer, reformatted the hard drive and
reloaded XP.
removed Quicken 2000 (one reference indicated a problem
with it and XP communications)
tried an old USR Sporster 28K external modem
loaded all XP critical updates
run non-interactive diagnostics overnight with no errors.
Updated the drivers for the conexant and Nvidia cards.

McAfee finds no viruses.
Checked with Canon who tells me there are no known
problems with the MultiPass L6000 and XP (I was using the
drivers Canon sent dated April 2003)

I would appreciate any help that you can give.
