Block MSN Messenger 6.2 with XP SP2 Firewall

Does anyone know how to stop MSN Messenger 6.2 from working using the XP SP2
firewall. I took the tick out of MSN Messenger 6.2 and Windows Messenger in
the Firewall Exceptions, but am still able to send instant messages, etc.
Thanks.

Colleen,

Are you talking about the Message program that sits in system tray? If
so this will completely remove it from your system.

Click on Start / RUN and paste in the following.

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

After pasting press ENTER or click on OK.

Hope That Helps
Jim

It's for the pc's on the public floor of the library. The patrons just
reinstall it if we uninstall it.

That worked, but blocked hotmail attachments as well which we didn't want.
We need hotmail to work.

Set the PCs in question to logon to ONLY guest accounts. This way, they cannot install programs, or make changes to the operating system. On the person who has adminstrator rights, set that to open with a password. The guest account can be set without having to use a password.
